Waterproofing green roofs with Alwitra
Green roofs are more than just beautiful.
They offer ecological and economic benefits:

- Additional habitat for plants, animals, and people
- Retention of dust and nutrients from the air and precipitation
- Retention of precipitation
- Protection of the roof waterproofing from UV rays and extreme
- temperature fluctuations
- Longer roof lifespan
- Improved thermal and sound insulation
- Reduced energy costs
- Improved quality of living
- Increased property value
- Funding support through special public programs
For green roofs, Kauz Bedachung installs products from the German manufacturer „alwitra“. The company specializes in waterproofing flat and low-pitched roofs. Its recyclable waterproofing membranes, „EVALON“ and „EVALSTIK“, have an exceptionally long lifespan —even under extreme weather conditions.
Other properties of the two membranes:
- Their light-colored, smooth surface repels dirt
- They are root- and rhizome-resistant and can be installed without an additional root barrier in a green roof system .
- They provide long-lasting reliability through material-homogeneous welding
- They offer high thermal and mechanical resistance (and are, among other things, walkable)
- They are extremely vapor-permeable—moisture can diffuse from the roof system into the outside air across their entire surface
- They are highly resistant to damaging (solar) radiation and reflect heat rays—ideal for cool roofs
- EVALON has up to five times lower fire load than two-layer waterproofing systems
- etc.
Types of green roofs
- Intensive green roofs These include plantings of taller perennials and shrubs, and even trees—entire garden landscapes can be created.
- Simple intensive green roofs These are ground-covering plantings of grasses, low-growing perennials, and low-growing shrubs.
- Extensive green roofs These are naturalistic forms of vegetation that largely sustain and develop themselves. They include low-growing grasses, mosses, and herbs.
